Chapter 9 — ViewSets / DRF / OpenAPI

4 live tests against ViewSet::for_model(...).router(...) mounted in-process. Run with DATABASE_URL=... cargo test --test cookbook_chapter09_viewsets -- --test-threads=1.

  • §9.112 / 9.113 — GET /authors returns paginated list payload; POST /authors with JSON body creates a row and returns the serialized object with the assigned id. → viewset_list_create_round_trip
  • §9.113 — GET /authors/{id} returns the single object; PUT /authors/{id} updates it; DELETE /authors/{id} removes it and a subsequent GET 404s. → viewset_retrieve_returns_single_object_by_pk, viewset_update_then_destroy
  • §9.115 — ?name=bob query param narrows the list to matching rows when filter_fields(&["name", ...]) is configured. → viewset_filter_query_param_narrows_list

The ViewSet builder also exposes .search_fields (?search=…), .ordering (default ORDER BY), .page_size, .cursor_pagination, .pagination(PaginationStyle), and .permissions_for_model::<T>() (see Chapter 6 §6.80 for the typed-perm shortcut). All exercised live in rustango's own viewset / order_by_annotate_live tests.
